    Homemade Laundry Soap

    Source of Recipe

    Everything Homemade

    List of Ingredients

1/3 Bar Fels Naptha soap (grated)
1/2 Cup Washing Soda (don't confuse w/ Arm & Hammer detergent or Baking Soda! It's not the same. See What is Washing soda? for a complete explanation)
1/2 Cup Borax (20 Mule Team stuff)
3 pints water (more water added later to make 2 gallons)

    Recipe

Put all ingredients in a large saucepan and heat
until dissolved Stir gently over medium heat until it thickens like honey. Sometimes the
mixture won't thicken up like honey. Don't worry though, it will still work.
Remove from heat. In a two gallon bucket, put 1 quart of hot water,
then add the soap mixture. Mix. Fill bucket with cold water.
    Mix until well blended.
Set aside for 24 hours. It will turn to gel and may look as though it's separated--don't worry, it still works. Stir well before using if it is separated.
Use 1/2 cup for each load. Adjust accordingly for small (less soap) or very dirty loads(more soap).
