Sugared Vanilla Pretzels

1 cup butter or margarine, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 tsp vanilla
1 egg yolk
1/2 cup sour cream
3 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
1 cup raw sugar
Recipe
Beat butter until creamy. Slowly beat in sugar until mixture is light.
Mix in vanilla, egg yolk and sour cream until blended.
Stir in flour. Mix into a soft dough. Wrap in waxed paper or plastic wrap.
Chill in freezer. The dough should be well-chilled -the freezer works
quickly helping the pretzels to keep their shape and not spread out.
Break off pieces of dough, the size of small walnuts, leaving rest in the
freezer until needed.
Sprinkle raw sugar on board. Roll dough gently into pencil-thick rolls,
about 9 inches long.
Place on greased cookie sheet in a pretzel shape.
Bake at 350 for 12 to 15 minutes until barely golden. Cool a minutes before
removing from sheet to a rack to cool. Allow the cookies only a minute or
two before removing from cookie sheet. They tend to stick if allowed to cool
completely on baking pan.
Store in airtight container.
