    Recipe Introduction


    This recipe can be served hot or cold. If you like add cinnamon either to apples or to topping. Cream or icecream are nice with this, as is custard.


    List of Ingredients


    • 2lb (1kg) cooking apple (granny smith)
    • 1/2 cup water,
    • 1/4 cup sugar
    • 1 heaped cup self raising flour
    • 1/2 cup brown sugar (can use white)
    • pinch salt
    • 2 tbs butter


    Instructions


    1. Thinly slice apple. Arrange in pie dish and pour over water and 1/4 cup sugar.
    2. Rub together flour, brown sugar, salt and butter.
    3. Crumble over top of apples. pressing into spaces. Bake in moderate oven 3/4 hour until apple tender and top brown.


    Final Comments


    If you add blackberries, mulberries or rhubarb to the apple that is a nice variation
