    Grandma’s Shortcake (for Strawberries)

    June Boggs' recipe for shortcake. Best strawebery shortcake recipe out there!

    List of Ingredients

    2 cups flour
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp salt
    1/3 cup lard or 6 Tbsps. Shortening
    1/3 cup sugar
    2/3 cup milk

    Recipe

    Mix dry ingredients together. Cut in lard/shortening with a pastry blender. Lightly stir in milk.

    Roll out onto a floured surface to a depth of about an inch. Cut into large biscuits with a biscuit cutter or a glass.

    Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with sugar- if desired. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for 12-15 minutes at 425 degrees.

    Serve warm or cold topped with strawberries.
