    Refrigerator Fudge

    Source of Recipe

    Susan Boggs Latour

    Recipe Introduction

This fudge recipe was quick and easy for Mother to make. I think that Aunt Mildred shared the recipe with her.

    List of Ingredients

    2 1/4 cups sugar
    3/4 cup undiluted evaporated milk
2 (6 oz.) packages chocolate chips
    1/3 cup white corn syrup
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    2 tablespoons butter or margarine
    1 cup coarsely chopped nuts

    Recipe

Combine sugar and evaporated milk in heavy sauce pan. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture oils. Turn heat to low and continue cooking for ten minutes, stirring constantly to repent scorching.

Remove from heat and immediately add chocolate chips, corn syrup, butter, and vanilla. Stir will until chocolate has melted and the fudge is smooth and creamy. Add nuts and mix just until blended.

Immediately pour into buttered 8x8x2 pan. Surface will set rapidly so spread quickly in pan with spatula to give a rippled uneven shiny top.

Chill in refrigerator from one to two hours.
