    Butter Chews

    Source of Recipe

    Letha Mae Knerr Boggs

    Recipe Introduction

I think that this was a recipe introduced by Aunt Letha into the family. Depending upon which piece you get, either corners or middle, it may be slighly chewy or not. This is a unique dessert, and you can just taste the butter and sugar melting in your mouth.

    List of Ingredients

    ¾ cup butter
    2 cups brown sugar
    2 eggs beaten
    2 tsp. vanilla
    1 cup flour
    1 cup chopped nuts
    1 cup shredded coconut

    Recipe

    Preheat oven to 325 degrees.

Melt butter and mix in brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla. By hand, add flour, nuts, and coconut. Bake in a 9 inch greased square pan for 55-60 minutes.

Dust with powdered sugar while still fairly warm. When cool cut into small squares.

The batter will be slightly gooey in the center when done – don’t overbake.

If your oven bakes hot, reduce temperature to 300 degrees.
