Coconut Cake

List of Ingredients
1 cup sugar
2 tbsp. shortening
3 egg yolks and 1 egg white
(remaining egg whites used in frosting)
3/4 cup buttermilk
1/4 cup water
2 cups sifted all purpose flour
1/4 tsp. soda
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
Recipe
Cream sugar and shortening together Sift dry ingredients. Add the soda to the milk and water. Add alternately dry ingredients between eggs and liquid to the sugar mixture. Grease and flour two 8 inch cake pans and pour batter into pans. Bake at 350 degrees until rebounds to the touch when tested, about 30 minutes.
Put together and frost with Seven Minute Frosting to which fresh grated conconut has been added. Sprinkle coconut over tops and sides
