    Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 recipe pastry for 9 inch double crust (or 2 store bought frozen crusts)
    • 1/2 cup butter
    • 3 T. flour
    • 1/4 cup water
    • 1/2 cup white sugar
    • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
    • 5-8 apples, peeled and sliced (Granny Smith work great!)
    • Cinnamon and nutmeg to taste


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 425.

    2. Melt butter in saucepan, stir in flour to form paste. Add water and sugars, bring to boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.

    3. Place bottom crust in pan; fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with lattice work of crust.

    4. Gently pour sugar mixture over crust, down into apples.

    5. Bake 15 minutes in preheated oven; reduce temperature to 350, continue baking for 35-45 minutes until apples are soft, and crust is browned.
