    ORANGE SLICE BARS

    I won a Baking contest with this recipe! A.J. really loves these Bars!!


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pound gumdrop orange slices
    • 6 tablespoons hot water
    • 1/2 cup butter, softened, I use Oleo
    • 2-1/4 cups cups brown sugar, packed
    • 4 eggs, beaten
    • 2-1/2 cups flour
    • 2 teaspoons baking powder
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1 teaspoon vanilla
    • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
    • Confectioners' sugar


    Instructions


    1. Cut candy orange slices into eights, using scissors dipped in hot water. Add 6 tablespoons hot water to candy. Cover; let set overnight.
    2. Next day; creams butter and brown sugar. Stir in eggs.
    3. Sift together flour, baking powder and salt. Add to creamed mixture.Stir in orange slices and water they were soaked in. Add vanilla and chopped nuts. Mix well.
    4. Place in greased 15x10x1 inch jelly roll pan. Bake at 350º for 25 to 30 mins. Sprinkle with powdered sugar while still hot. Makes 40 bars.
