PORK CHOP CASSEROLE
List of Ingredients
- 4 loin pork chops, trimmed
- 1 small head of young cabbage
- 1 cup cream
- 1/2 cup dry white wine
- pinch of sage
- 1/4 cup butter
- pinch of salt
- pinch of fresh ground pepper
- Fresh grated Parmesan cheese
Instructions
- Remove outside leaves of cabbage and slice in about 1/2" slices (not fine like cole slaw).
- Return to stove and season it with salt and pepper, add the cream and simmer covered, 10 to 15 minutes.
- Meanwhile brown pork chops on both sides in butter until cooked through. Remove from heat and season with salt and pepper.
- Boil cabbage about 5 minutes, drain thoroughly.
- De-glaze the pan with the wine and a good pinch of sage, simmer about two minutes then add to cabbage.
- Spread 1/2 of the cabbage in bottom of a casserole dish. Place pork chops on top and cover the chops with remaining cabbage mixture. Sprinkle generously with Parmesan cheese and a little melted butter.
- Bake uncovered at 350° oven about 20 minutes or until top is golden brown.
