    NEVER FAIL CREAM PIE


    List of Ingredients


    • 2/3 cup sugar
    • 1/3 cup cornstarch
    • 1/3 tsp salt
    • 2 cups milk, scalded
    • 3 egg yolks, beaten
    • 2 Tbsp. butter
    • 1 tsp vanilla
    • 1 baked pie shell


    Instructions


    1. Blend sugar, cornstarch and salt. Slowly stir in hot milk. Cook and stir till thickens.
    2. Add 1/3 mixure to beaten egg yolks, the stir back into custard. Stir and cook 2 minutes more. Remove. Cool a little-for at least 10 minutes (important step).
    3. Add butter and vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell.
    4. Meringue: 3 egg whites, beaten stiff, then slowly add 1/4 cup sugar. Place on top of pie and put in 350 degree oven until top is lightly brown.
