    This is so good on toast in the morning!


    List of Ingredients


    • 4 lb.s Granny Smith apples
    • 1 cup apple cider
    • 1/4 cup packed dark brown sugar
    • 1 Tbls. fresh lemon juice
    • 1/4 teas. salt
    • Dash of cloves
    • 2 (3") cinnamon sticks
    • 1 star anise


    Instructions


    1. Peel, core and quarter apples.
    2. Combine apples and cider in a large stockpot, bring to a boil.
    3. Reduce heat and simmer, partially covered, 30 minutes or until apples are tender.
    4. Place apple mixture in a food processor, pulse 6 times until chunky.
    5. Stir in sugar and remaining ingredients.
    6. Cook over low heat 1 hour until thick, stirring occasionally.
    7. Discard cinnamon and star anise.
    8. Cover and chill. Store in airtight container in refrigerator up to a month.


    Final Comments


    Yields 4 cups
