    2 oz plain flour
    2 oz softened butter
    1 beaten egg
    quarter pint warm milk
    1 teaspoon ground nutmeg
    Extra butter for 'dotting'

    Recipe



    Rub flour and butter together until mixture resembles bread crumbs, stir in sugar. Beat egg into warm milk and stir into flour mixture. Pour into well-buttered 2 pint pie dish, dot with a little extra butter and sprinkle on nutmeg. Bake for 30/40 minutes (350F/Mark 4) until golden brown. Serve with stewed apples or plums.
