4 lamb or mutton chops
1 1/2 pounds potatoes
6+ table spoons butter
1 teaspoon salt
1/8 teaspoon pepper
3/4 cup beef stock
sprinkle of Worcestershire sauce

In a skillet melt: 2 table spoons butter. When it is hot add: 4 lamb or mutton chops, trimmed of their fat.
Brown on both sides for about 6 minutes all told. Remove chops and keep warm.
Add to pan juices: 3/4 cup beef stock. Stir in all the brown drippings. Bring to a boil, set aside and keep hot.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Boil, peel, and mash: 1 1/2 pounds potatoes (about 3 cups).
Beat in: 4 tablespoons butter, 1 teaspoon salt, and 1/8 teaspoon pepper.
Butter an oven proof dish and line with 1 1/2 cups of the mashed potatoes.
Place the 4 chops on top. Sprinkle with a little Worcestershire sauce.
Cover with the remaining potatoes and smooth top like a pie crust.
Place in oven and bake for 30 minutes.
PRESENTATION:
Make depression in center of the pie and pour in the hot gravy. Serve at once.
