    8 oz Plain flour
    ½ tsp Salt
    6 oz Margarine
    2 oz Candied peel
    8 oz Raisins
    6 oz Sugar
    1 tbsp Black treacle
    ½ pt Milk
    2 Eggs, beaten
    1 tsp bicarbonate of soda

    Recipe



    1. Grease an 8 inch cake square cake tin.
    2. Sift flour and salt. Rub in margarine.
    3. Add peel, raisins and sugar to the flour.
    4. Warm the treacle in half of the milk, mix with eggs and add the ingredients to the bowl.
    5. Dissolve bicarbonate of soda in 1 table spoon of milk and add to the mix.
    6. Stir together using remaining milk if required.
    7. Place in cake tin, flatten with a spoon.
    8. Bake for 1 ½ - 2 hours until cooked.
