    Recipe Introduction

    Serves 4

    List of Ingredients

    450g (1lb) sausagemeat
    1 onion, chopped
50g (2oz) sage derby cheese, grated (I just used Cheddar - couldn't find sage derby)
1 green dessert apple, cored, sliced and halved (having made this, I'd grate or chop the apple into the sausagemeat)
    100g (4oz) plain flour
pinch salt 1 egg, lightly beaten
    225ml (8fl oz) fresh milk

    Recipe

    1. Mix sausagemeat, onion and cheese together. On a floured surface, form into 8 small burger shapes. Heat oil in frying pan, and fry burgers for 3-4 minutes each side.

    2. Transfer to a buttered ovenproof dish and top with apple(in the picture, they've got the slices of apple set in like the tops of butterfly cakes). Sift flour and salt together. Gradually beat in egg and milk until smooth. Pour into dish.

    3. Bake at 220C/425F/Gas7 for 40-45 minutes or until brown and crispy.

I served this with mashed potatoes, peas and sweetcorn and I made some nice thick gravy.

Very filling dinner and it was lush!!
