    2 medium onions, chopped
    1 garlic clove, minced
    3 teaspoons butter
    1 pound veal, cut into 1 inch cubes
    1 pound pork, cut into 1 inch cubes
    28 ounces canned plum tomatoes, with juice
    1/2 teaspoon marjoram
    2-1/2 teaspoons sweet mild paprika
    1-1/2 teaspoons caraway seeds
    1 bay leaf
    freshly ground black pepper
    salt
    1-1/2 pounds fresh sauerkraut, rinsed and squeezed dry
    1 pound egg noodles
    1-1/2 cups sour cream

    Recipe



    In a large skillet, saute the onions and garlic in the butter. Add the meat and brown. Lower the heat and add the tomatoes, breaking them apart in the skillet with a wooden spoon. Add the seasonings and the sauerkraut, cover, and simmer about 1 hour.
    Boil the noodles when the goulash is almost ready. Immediately before serving, stir in the sour cream into the goulash and check the seasoning.

    Serves 6-8.
