    Marvin Scott's Holiday Bread Pudding

    Source of Recipe

    Marvin Scott

    List of Ingredients

10 slices of white bread cubed (day old or stale bread works best)
    ¼ cup of butter (melted)
    1 cup white sugar
    3 cups hot whole milk
    4 eggs
    ½ cup raisins
    ½ cup shredded coconut
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    ½ teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
    Ground nutmeg

    Recipe

Heat oven to 350 degrees. In a large mixing bowl, combine bread, melted butter, raisins, coconut and cinnamon. Mix well and transfer to a greased 2-quart baking dish.

In the same mixing bowl, beat the eggs lightly and then stir in sugar, vanilla and salt. Stir until the sugar is dissolved. Heat the milk and slowly whisk the hot milk into the egg mixture.

Pour the egg and milk mixture over the bread cubes and sprinkle the top with nutmeg. Let mixture soak for 5 minutes on the countertop.

Bake in preheated oven for 45 to 60 minutes until pudding is done (the pudding should be a golden brown color and solid, and a knife inserted into the center should come out clean).

Let cool slightly before serving. Garnish with shredded coconut.
