Brown 1 pound hamburger in 2 tablespoon fat. As it browns, add 3 medium size onions, sliced thin, 1 cup diced celery and 2 cups shredded cabbage. Brown all slightly more then cover with water and simmer slowly for half an hour. Then add 2 (#2) cans red kidney beans and 1 (#2) can tomatoes. Season with salt and pepper and about 1 teaspoon chili powder. Cook for another half an hour. Serve with mashed potatoes. Serve chili in large soup plate and add good big serving spoon of mashed potatoes in middle, thus floating island.
