    List of Ingredients




    * 1 pound bacon, chopped
    * 2 pounds round steak, cut into 1/2-inch cubes
    * 2 medium onions, chopped
    * 4 garlic cloves, minced
    * 3 14-ounce cans tomatoes, chopped
    * 1 cup barbecue sauce
    * 1 cup chili sauce
    * 1/2 cup honey
    * 1 4-ounce can diced green chilies
    * 4 beef bouillon cubes
    * 1 tablespoon chili powder
    * 1 tablespoon unsweetened cocoa
    * 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
    * 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    * 1 bay leaf
    * 1 1/2 teaspoons ground cumin
    * 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper
    * 3 14-ounce cans kidney beans, rinsed and drained

    Recipe



    In large pot or Dutch oven, cook the chopped bacon over medium heat. Remove the bacon pieces and drain on paper towels. Pour off all but 3 tablespoons of the drippings and brown the steak in the drippings over medium heat. Add the onions and garlic and continue cooking until the onions are soft. Return the bacon pieces to the pot and add the remaining ingredients, except the kidney beans. Bring the mixture to a to boil, reduce the heat to low and cover the pot. Simmer the chili, stirring occasionally, until the meat is tender, 3 to 4 hours. Add the kidney beans and cook for a few minutes more. Serves 8 to 10.
