    For chicken recipes - if you don't have the chicken parts a recipe calls for or if your recipe calls for a whole chicken and you don't have one - here are amounts of parts which equal a whole chicken



    3 whole chicken breasts = 1 chicken
    6 half chicken breasts = 1 chicken
    9 chicken thighs and chicken drumsticks = 1 chicken
    12 chicken thighs = 1 chicken
    14 chicken drumsticks = 1 chicken
    24 chicken drumettes (upper part of wing) = 1 chicken
    When using cooked chicken - allow one pound of whole uncooked chicken for each cup of cooked, edible chicken meat.
