    * 3 cups of Basmati Rice
    * 1 ¼ cups of melted butter
    * 2 medium potatoes
    * Pinch of saffron
    * 4 cups water
    * Salt and ground pepper

    Recipe



    Rice

    Wash and soak the rice for at least an hour.
    Bring 4 cups of water to a boil, add rice and salt
    Boil the rice with no lid until it is soft (not too soft)
    Strain the rice and set aside

    Potatoes

    Wash and cut in thick slices (under an inch)

    Preparation

    1. Add ¼ cup of butter to warm sauce pan and melt.
    2. Mix the rest of the butter and pepper with hot water
    3. In a table spoon of the butter/water mixture add a pinch of saffron, stir and pour into bottom of saucepan.
    4. Arrange potato slices in a single layer in saucepan
    5. Place strained rice on top of potato layer
    6. Sprinkle remaining butter/water mixture over rice mixture.
    7. Wrap cover of pot (lid) with tea towel and place over sauce pan
    8. Cook over medium-high for 8 minutes
    9. Reduce heat to low and cook for 40-60 minutes.

    Serve

    Once cooked, let stand for 1 minute.
    Place plate over open saucepan and flip like a mold
