List of Ingredients
1 tbsp canola oil
1 frozen hash brown potato patty, approximately 41/2" x 21/2"
1 cup shredded coleslaw from package mix, containing red and green cabbage
1 tbsp purchased sweet and sour salad dressing
1 tbsp butter, melted
2 slices crusty, hearty Italian bread
2 slices sharp American cheese
2 slices red onion
Heinz red and/or green ketchup, optionalRecipe
Preheat a medium Teflon® coated non-stick skillet over medium heat for about one minute. Add canola oil and frozen hash brown potato patty and cook as directed on package, 6-10 minutes, turning once. Remove from pan. Set aside. Wipe pan with paper towel.
In a small bowl, combine shredded coleslaw and sweet and sour dressing. Set aside.
Brush melted butter over one side of each of the two slices of bread. Return skillet to medium heat and heat for two minute. Place one slice of bread, buttered side down in skillet. Place one slice of cheese on top. Place potato patty on the cheese, along with the coleslaw, red onion and remaining slice of cheese. Top with remaining bread slice, buttered side up. Cook sandwich for 2 to 3 minutes, carefully pressing top with a spatula. When golden brown, turn and continue to cook, pressing lightly 2 to 3 minutes more or until light golden brown and cheese is melted. Serve with ketchup if desired. Makes 1 sandwich.
