Kansas City Steak Soup

List of Ingredients
1 cup onion -- chopped
1 cup carrots -- chopped
1 cup celery -- chopped
2 lbs beef or round steak -- ground or cubed
1 stick margarine -- melted
1 cup flour
2 qts stock -- or water
16 oz frozen mixed vegetables
1 16 oz ca tomatoes
1 tbsp monosodium glutamate
2 tbsp beef stock base
1 tsp pepperRecipe
Steam onions, carrots and celery al dente.
Brown meat and set aside.
Combine flour and melted margarine to make a paste.
Combine in stock and boil until thickened slightly.
In a separate pan, combine frozen mixed vegetables, tomatoes. MSG, beef base and pepper.
Bring to a boil and simmer until vegetables are cooked.
Now combine all ingredients into a stock pot.
This soup freezes well and is a meal in itself. Serve with crusty rolls and a salad.
