Peanut Butter Kisses

List of Ingredients
1 cup Butter Flavor Crisco all-vegetable shortening or 1 Butter Flavor Crisco stick
1 cup Jif Creamy Peanut Butter
1 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1 cup granulated sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
2 teaspoons vanilla
3 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon salt
Granulated sugar for rolling
72 to 90 milk chocolate kisses or stars, unwrapped
Recipe
Heat oven to 375 degrees F.
Combine Butter Flavor Crisco, Jif creamy peanut butter, brown sugar, and 1 cup granulated sugar in large bowl. Beat at medium speed of electric mixer until well blended. Beat in eggs, milk, and vanilla.
Combine flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix into creamed mixture at low speed until just blended. Dough will be stiff.
Form dough into 1-inch balls. Roll in granulated sugar. Place 2 inches apart on ungreased baking sheet.
Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 minutes. Press milk chocolate kiss into center of each cookie. Return to oven. Bake 3 minutes. Cool 2 minutes on baking sheet. Remove to cooling rack.
Variation:
Jam-Filled Peanut Butter Kisses: Prepare recipe as directed for steps 1 through 4. Bake at 375 degrees F for 8 minutes. Press handle of wooden spoon gently in center of each cookie. Return to oven. Bake 3 mintues. Finish as directed. Fill cooled cookies with favorite jam.
