    1 package devils food cake mix
    1-1/3 cups water
    1/2 cup oil
    3 eggs
    1 small package chocolate instant pudding
    3/4 cup milk
    1 tsp. almond extract
    2 cups whipping cream
    2-1/2 lbs. cherry pie filling
    1/4 cup powdered sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    1 ounce semisweet chocolate, grated

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Combine first 4 ingredients in a bowl and mix thoroughly. Pour into a buttered 8 inch pan and bake according to package directions. Cool completely and cut into 1 inch squares. Combine pudding mix, milk and almond extract in a bowl. Beat with an electric mixer at low speed. Add 1 cup cream and beat about 2 minutes at medium speed until soft peaks form. Arrange half the cake cubes in the bottom of a 2 quart glass bowl. Spoon half the pie filling over cake. Top with half the pudding mixture. Repeat with cake, pie filling and pudding mixture. Using a chilled bowl and beaters, beat remaining cream with sugar and vanilla until soft peaks form. Fold in grated chocolate. Gently spoon over top of trifle. Cover and refrigerate at least 2 hours.
