    Ingredients for the pudding:

    3 quarts stale sourdough or French bread, broken into pieces
    2-1/2 cups 2% milk
    1 cup granulated sugar
    1 Tbs. vanilla extract
    1/2 cup raisins
    1 cup lightly roasted walnuts, chopped
    1-1/2 Tbs. butter, melted
    2 large eggs, beaten

    Ingredients for Rum Sauce:

    1 stick butter, melted
    2 Tbs. all-purpose flour
    1/4 cup granulated sugar
    1/3 cup dark rum

    Preparation for the Bread Pudding:

    In a large bowl, combine bread with milk, eggs, sugar, vanilla and raisins. Let stand for 20 minutes to moisten bread. Mix in walnuts. Pour butter into a 9-inch by 13-inch pan to coat. Pour mixture into pan and bake in a preheated 350-degree oven for 45 minutes or until a knife inserted into the middle comes out clean.

    Preparation for the Rum Sauce:

    Combine all ingredients in a blender or food processor and process for two to three minutes. To serve, place a portion of the bread pudding onto a plate or in a bowl and spoon a generous amount of sauce over the bread pudding.

    Yield: 10 servings
