    Apple Pie

    Source of Recipe

    McCormick

    Recipe Introduction

Apple Pie Spice is the flavor secret for this hearty apple pie. If you like a sweeter pie, use Jonathan, MacIntosh, Stayman-Winesap, or Jonagold cooking apples.

    List of Ingredients

    1 cup sugar
    1 1/2 teaspoons McCormick® Apple Pie Spice
    1/4 cup flour
8 cups peeled, thinly sliced, Granny Smith apples
    1 tablespoon butter
    1 package refrigerated pie crusts

    Recipe

    1. Preheat oven to 400°F. Prepare pie crusts as directed on package for two-crust pie, using a 9-inch pie plate.

    2. Mix sugar, apple pie spice, and flour. Mix lightly with apples. Heap apples into pastry-lined pie pan. Dot with butter. Cover with top crust. Seal and flute. Cut small slits in top crust. Cover edge with 1 1/2-inch strips of foil.

    3. Bake 45-50 minutes or until nicely browned.

Tip: Carefully remove foil after 30 minutes if you like a slightly darker fluted crust.
