    Easy Sicilian-style Pasta Sauce

    Source of Recipe

    Miavita

    Recipe Introduction

Savory Sicilian dishes often have a sweet accent. Here, golden raisins balance the acidity of the tomatoes. Serve the sauce with your favorite sturdy pasta shape or alongside grilled fish or chicken.

    List of Ingredients

    1 26-ounce (780-g) jar plain spaghetti sauce
    1/4 cup (1 1/2 oz/45 g) golden raisins
2 tablespoons chopped fresh parsley, preferably Italian flat-leaf
    1 tablespoon balsamic vinegar
    1 - pinch sugar
    2 tablespoons pine nuts

    Recipe

1 In a large saucepan, heat spaghetti sauce over medium heat. Stir in raisins, parsley, balsamic vinegar and sugar. Simmer gently until raisins are plumped, about 5 minutes.
2 Meanwhile, in a small dry skillet, toast pine nuts over medium heat, stirring to prevent scorching. When they are browned and fragrant, add to the sauce.
