Chewy Brownie Cookies

In large bowl, beat on medium speed until well blended:
2/3 cup shortening
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
1 Tbs. water
1 tsp. vanilla
Add, beating well:
2 eggs
Stir together and then gradually add to creamed mixture on low speed, just until blended:
1-1/2 cups flour
1/3 cup cocoa
½ tsp. salt
1/4 tsp. baking soda
Stir in:
2 cups chocolate chips
Drop by rounded tablespoonfuls 2” apart onto ungreased sheets.
Bake at 375°F. for 7-9 minutes or until cookies are set. Cookies will appear soft and moist. Do not overbake. Cool 2 minutes on sheet and them move them to foil on a flat surface. Cool completely.
Yield: 3 dozen
3/02-- Used 1-1/2” scoop and got 34 cookies (9/sheet). Can’t eat them warm-too gooey. Baked them 10 minutes, they seemed too soft at 7-9 minutes.
