    1 lb powdered sugar, sifted
    1 stick butter or margarine
    1/3 cup white corn syrup (Karo)
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1 teaspoon vanilla
    1/2 teaspoon butter flavoring
    1 to 1 1/2 lbs chocolate coating
    or white chocolate coating

    Recipe



    Cream butter. Add sugar, corn syrup, salt and flavoring. Mix with hands until smooth and creamy. Roll into small balls, let stand awhile or overnight to for a crust. melt chocolate coating over hot not boiling water. Let melt only about 1/3 take from water and stir do not beat until completely melted. Dip balls into coating with dipping fork or teaspoon and place on waxed paper until set.

    VARIATIONS:

    Lemon-Omit vanilla, add 1 teaspoon lemon flavoring plus few drops yellow food coloring.

    Orange-Omit vanilla, add orange flavoring plus 2 drops red and 1 drop yellow food coloring.

    Mint- Omit vanilla, add 1 teaspoon peppermint flavoring few drops if using oil of peppermint plus few drops red or green coloring.

    Chocolate: add 1/4 cup cocoa to sugar.

    Maple Nut add 1 teaspoon maple flavoring plus 1/2 cup finely chopped pecans

    Coconut-substitute sweetened condensed milk for corn syrup and add about 1 cup angel flake coconut.
