Sourdough Chocolate Cake

The first time I had this at a friends house, I couldn't believe the INCREDIBLE taste this moist cake had!!! It bacame a favorite right then and there!


List of Ingredients




1/2 C. Sourdough Starter (see recipe for sourdough starter)
1 C. Milk
1 1/2 C. Flour
***********
1 C. Sugar
1/2 C. Shortening
1/2 t. Salt
1 t. Vanilla
1 1/2 t. Baking soda
2 Eggs
3 squares Baking Chocolate, melted

Recipe



Mix first 3 ingredients together and let stand for 2-3 hrs. in a warm place intill bubbly and there is a clean sour milk odor.

Cream shortening, sugar, vanilla, salt, and b. soda. Add eggs one at a time, beating well after each one.
Combine creamed mixture and the melted chocolate along with the sourdough mixture and stir on low speed with mixer until well blended.
Pour into 2 greased and floured layer pans or 1 9x13" pan.
Bake at 350' for 25 min. or done.
Cool and Frost.
