    Recipe Introduction

    I love this!

    List of Ingredients

    1/2 C. Butter, softned
    1 C. Flour
    2 T. Water
    1/2 C. Butter
    1 C. Water
    1 t. almond extract
    1 C. Flour
    3 Eggs
    Chopped Nuts

    Glaze- see recipe;

    Mix 1 1/2 C. powdered sugar, 2 T. butter-softned, 1 1/2 t. almond extract and 1-2 T. warm water; beat until smooth.

    Recipe

    Heat oven to 350'.
Cut 1/2 C. butter into 1 C. flour. Sprinkle 2 T. water over the mixture; mix with fork. Round into a ball and divide in half.
On ungreased baking sheet, pat each half with your hands into a strip- 12x3". Strips should be about 3" apart.

In medium saucepan, heat 1/2 C. butter and 1 C. water to a rolling boil. Remove from heat and quickly stir in almond extract and 1 C. flour. Stir vigorously over low heat until mixture forms a ball, about 1 minute. Remove from heat. Beat in the eggs, all at one time, until smooth.
Divide this in half; spread each half evenly over the strips, covering completely. Bake about 60 minutes or until topping is crisp and brown. Remove from oven and let cool.
Frost with glaze adn sprinkle generously with sliced almonds.

Expect for this to "fall", this forms a custard like filling.

    Makes 10-12 servings
