    Dark-Light Cookies


    List of Ingredients


    • LIGHT
    • 2/3 cup clour
    • 1/2 cup sugar
    • 1 egg
    • 1 stick butter
    • DARK
    • 2/3 cup flour
    • 2/3 cup sugar
    • 1/4 cup cocoa
    • 1 egg
    • 1egg yolk
    • 1 stick butter
    • TOPPING
    • 1 egg white
    • 3 Tbsp powdered sugar


    Instructions


    1. LIGHT: On counter top. place flour and sprinkle sugar over it. Make a well and drop in egg. Cut butter over it and knead into a smooth dough.
    2. Roll out dough to 1/8" thickness. Cut into equal numbers of 2 1/2", 1 1/2" and 3/4" rounds using cutters. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at preheated 350 for 15-18 minutes.
    3. DAK: On counter top place flour and sprinkle sugar and cocoa over it. Make a well and drop in egg and yolk. Cut butter over it and knead until smooth dough forms. Roll out dough and cut into equal numbers of 2 1/2", 1 1/2" and 3/4" rounds. Place on greased cookie sheet. Bake at preheated 350 for 15-18 minutes.
    4. TOPPING: Beat egg with 1 Tbsp water and brush on largest light cookie, top with dark medium cookie. Brush medium cookie with egg and place smallest light cookie on tip. Sprinkle with powdered sugar. Continue with all cookies, reversing half to large dark cookie with medium light and finally small dark.


    Final Comments
