Braised Steak and Onions in Guinness
List of Ingredients
1 lb. braising steak, cut into 4 pieces
1 tablespoon oil
Flour, seasoned with salt and pepper for dredging
2 large onions, halved and sliced
5 fl. oz. Guinness
1/2 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
salt and freshly ground pepperRecipe
Preheat oven to 275 degrees F.
Heat oil in flame-proof casserole dish and when it's sizzling hot, dredge meat in seasoned flour and brown pieces on all sides.
Lift meat out of casserole dish and reserve on a plate.
Add onions to casserole and saute until slightly brown around edges.
Arrange meat and any juices that are on the plate on top of the onions.
Season with salt and pepper.
Pour in Guinness and Worcestershire sauce.
Put casserole in oven and bake approximately 2 1/2 hours until meat is tender.
