Creamed Cabbage

1 cabbage (about 2 pounds)
2 1/2 cups light cream
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
2 tablespoons butter
2 tablespoons flour
salt and pepper to tasteRecipe
Clean the cabbage and cut into about 8 pieces.
Blanch in salted boiling water for about 5 minutes.
Drain well and cut into thin strips.
Heat the butter and then stir in the flour and cook for 1 minute.
Gradually add the milk and nutmeg, stirring well to avoid lumps.
Add the cabbage and bring to the boil.
Cover and cook over a low heat for 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Serve when cabbage is still firm.
