    Golden Cake Bread

    This recipe is from Aunt Hazel Thorley. It's delicious!


    List of Ingredients


    • 1 pkg dry yeast
    • 1/4 c warm water
    • 1 c scalded milk
    • 1/2 c butter
    • 1/2 c sugar
    • 2 beaten eggs
    • 2 tsp vanilla
    • 1 tsp salt
    • 4 to 4 1/2 c flour


    Instructions


    1. Soften yeast in water.
    2. Combine scalded milk, butter and sugar in large mixing bowl; cool to lukewarm.
    3. Stir in beaten eggs (reserve 1 tsp), vanilla, salt and yeast mixture.
    4. Gradually add flour, beating well after each addition.
    5. Cover and let rise in warm place until light and doubled (1 hr), beat down and let rise again (3/4 hr).
    6. Place batter in 2 greased 9x5x3 pans (rise 3/4 hr).
    7. Bake 28-35 min at 350.



    Final Comments


    I double the recipe and still use 2 loaf pans. Makes larger loaves.
