    Spaghetti Sauce

    List of Ingredients


    • 1 - 28 oz. can crushed tomatoes
    • 3 - 6 oz. cans tomato paste
    • 1 - 16 oz. can tomato sauce
    • 2-3 c. hot water
    • 1 Tbsp. Italian seasoning
    • 1 tsp. oregano
    • 1/2 tsp. basil
    • 1/4-1/2 tsp. crushed red pepper
    • 1/8 tsp. black pepper
    • 1 tsp. salt
    • 1 - 1 1/2 lb. lean ground beef
    • 1 - 1 1/2 lb. mild Italian sausages
    • 1 lg. onion, diced
    • 2-3 cloves garlic, diced
    • 1 lg. bell pepper, diced
    • 4 oz. fresh mushrooms, sliced or quartered


    Instructions


    1. In large pan, combine first 10 ingredients. Allow to simmer for at least an hour.

    2. In frying pan, brown ground beef. Add sausages which have been cut into bite-sized pieces, ground beef and vegetables to tomato mixture. Allow to simmer an additional 1-2 hours. Serve over spaghetti noodles.



    Final Comments


    I use this same sauce when making Lasagna, except that I use ground Italian sausage and brown it with the ground beef.
