    This was my mom's favorite candy. I made it for her every year from Christmas.

    List of Ingredients




    2 1/2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup Karo - light corn syrup
    1/2 cup water
    1 tsp vanilla
    1/4 tsp salt
    2 egg whites

    Recipe



    Stir together sugar, corn syrup, water and salt. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until mixture boils. Reduce heat, cook, without stirring, until temp on candy thermometer reaches 265 degrees. Just before temp reaches 265 degrees, in large bowl, with mixer at high speed, beat egg whites until stiff peaks form. Slowly pour in syrup, beating until mixture begins to lose its gloss. Reduce speed to low. Beat in vanilla. Continue beating on low speed until mixture holds its shape when dropped from spoon. If mixture becomes too stiff for mixer, beat with wooden spoon. Drop by teaspoonsful onto waxed paper.
