    SALT SUBSTITUTE

    Source of Recipe

    ldyolake

    Recipe Introduction

This is a good basis to start. Don't hesitate to add your own personal favorite herbs to it. I would add basil, if you were going to use in dishes that contain tomatoes, as tomato and basil are naturally complimentary of each other. Another thing that came to mind, is adding chives.

Also, as an alternative to permanently altering your salt shaker, I would keep this mixture in an airtight container, and then reuse an old spice bottle for the shaker. Things like Sesame seeds come in bottles with a removable plastic shaker under the screw on cap, that have larger holes, to accommodate the size of the seeds. Check your spice rack. See what size shakers you have there. Always wash out and save those glass bottles and their plastic shakers...you never know when they are going to come in handy! (Not just in the kitchen, but for storing craft supplies, like glitter, or beads!)

    List of Ingredients

    1 teaspoon chili powder
    2 teaspoon ground oregano
    2 teaspoon black pepper
    1 Tablespoon garlic powder
    2 Tablespoons dry mustard
    6 Tablespoons onion powder
    3 Tablespoons paprika
    3 Tablespoons poultry seasoning

    Recipe

Mix together all ingredients and put in a salt shaker. This does
not shake out easily so shaker's holes may need to be adjusted.
Use to season meats or mix with flour when coating chicken or pork.
