    Banana Bread

    Recipe Introduction

    This banana bread is scrumptious served alone or with ice cream. It is also delicious used in place of shortcake when making strawberry shortcake.

    List of Ingredients

    1-1/2 cup sugar
    1/2 cup butter
    2 eggs
    3 cups sifted flour
    pinch salt
    1/2 cup sour milk
    3 bananas, mashed
    1 cup chopped walnuts or pecans
    1 tsp. baking soda
    1 tsp. vanilla

    Recipe

    Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs one at a time. Add flour and milk alternately. Add bananas and nuts. Scald soda in small amount of hot water, then add to mixture. Add vanilla. Bake in 2 well-greased loaf pans at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes (or until a toothpick inserted into middle of loaves comes out clean). Cool before slicing.

    (Placing loaves in a plastic storage bag before completely cool will keep loaves moist and soft.)

    Serve alone or with ice cream.
