    ANGEL BISCUITS

    Source of Recipe

    UNKNOWN

    Recipe Introduction

These are the lightest biscuits I have ever made. You can also use the dough for deep fried biscuits and sprinkle with sugar, crust for cobbler, or dumplings for chicken stew.

    List of Ingredients

    5 c. all-purpose flour
3/4 c. vegetable oil or lard
    1 tsp. baking soda
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. salt
    3 TBS. sugar
2 packages of yeast or 1 yeast cake dissolved in 1/2 cup lukewarm water
    2 c. buttermilk

    Recipe

In a bowl, combine the dry ingredients and oil or lard. Add buttermilk and dissolved yeast.
Work together with a large spoon until all flour is moistened.
Cover bowl and put in a cool place then transfer to the refrigerator until ready to use.
To make angel biscuits, roll dough on a floured surface 1/2"
thick and cut with a floured cutter. Bake at 400 on a lightly greased baking sheet for 12 minutes or until lightly browned.
Makes 6 dozen light flaky biscuits.
