    OLD FASHIONED BREAD PUDDING

    List of Ingredients


    • 5 1/2 cups milk, divided
    • 3 cups day-old bread cubes
    • 5 large eggs, divided
    • 1/3 cup sugar
    • 2 tsp. baking powder
    • 1/2 tsp. salt
    • 4 TBS. butter, melted
    • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
    • 3/4 cup firmly packed dark brown sugar
    • 3 TBS. all purpose flour


    Instructions


    1. Preheat oven to 350. Grease a 13x9" baking dish.
    2. Heat 4 cups of milk in a medium saucepan just until bubbles form around edge of pan, about 7 minutes.
    3. Combine warm milk and bread cubes in a medium bowl. Let stand until cool.
    4. Whisk 3 eggs in a medium bowl. Stir in sugar, powder, and salt. Add bread mixture and mix well. Stir in butter and vanilla.
    5. Spoon bread mixture into prepared dish. Bake until set, about 1 hour.
    6. For sauce, combine brown sugar and flour in a medium saucepan. Stir in remaining milk and eggs. Cook over low heat, stirring continually until thickened. Drizzle over bread pudding in dessert bowls.
