    Crockpot Snack Nuts

    Recipe Introduction

This is a recipe for traditional glazed nuts that eliminates the use of egg whites, and cuts down on mess by using the Crock instead of a baking sheet in the oven.

    List of Ingredients

    • 1 Lb. Walnuts or Pecans
    • 1 Stick (1/2 cup) Unsalted Butter
    • 1/4 Cup Good Quality Maple Syrup
    • 1/4 Cup Confectioner's Sugar
    • 1/2 tsp. ground Cinnamon
    • 1/4 tsp. ground ginger
    • 1/4 tsp. ground allspice
    • 1/8 tsp. ground clove

    Instructions

    1. Combine Butter and Maple Syrup in your crockpot set on low.
    2. Stir until butter is melted.
    3. Add nuts to butter/maple mixture and stir to coat well.
    4. Continue stirring while you add the confectioner's sugar in a steady stream.
    5. Cover the crock, increase the heat to High, and cook covered for 15 minutes.
    6. Uncover crock, stir nuts, and reduce heat to Low.
    7. Cook, uncovered, at Low heat, stirring frequently, for 2 hours.
    8. Nuts should have a nice, hard, shiny glaze on them at this point.
    9. Add mixed spices to nuts and stir well to coat evenly.
    10. Transfer coated nuts to a baking sheet, spread into an even layer, to cool.
    11. Munch, Munch, Munch!

    Final Comments

These are so easy and very pleasing to look at, smell, and eat! I usually put them into a wide-mouthed pint jar with a piece of fabric cut to fit inside the band. What a pretty presentation it makes for gifting, or to have in Pantry for when unexpected guests arrive and you need a quick snack to go with coffe.
