I do not know where grandmother got this recipe, it was handwritten and placed in her cookbook. It was not in grandmothers handwriting though.





List of Ingredients



• 1/2 cup oleo
  
• 3 teaspoons cocoa
  
• 1/2 cup water
  
• 1 cup flour
  
• 1/4 teaspoon salt
  
• 1/3 cup buttermilk
  
• 3/4 teaspoon soda
  
• 1 egg
  
• 1 teaspoon vanilla
  






Instructions



1. Mix in a pan not in a bowl.
   
2. Bring to a boil, water, cocoa, oleo
   
3. Sift together-flour, sugar, salt
   
4. Mix with boiled oleo, water & cocoa mixture
   
5. Beat in egg and milk with soda in milk
   
6. Mix well
   
7. DO NOT OVER BEAT
   
8. Bake in loaf pan 35 minutes at 250 degrees
