    Green Bean Casserole #1

    Source of Recipe

My Grandma Mary (McQuin) Brownfield's Cookbook

    Recipe Introduction

    Serves: 6

    List of Ingredients

2 pkgs. frozen cut green beans or 2 (1 lb.) cans, drained
    1 t. salt
3/4 c. milk (I use skim or evaporated skim)
1 can (10 1/2 oz.) condensed cream of mushroom soup (I use Campbell's healthy request)
    1/8 t. black pepper
1 can (3 1/2 oz.) French Fried Onions (I use bread crumbs sprayed with nonstick, butter flavored, cooking spray)

    Recipe

Cook frozen green beans in salted water. Drain. (If using canned green beans, omit salt when cooking) Combine milk, soup and pepper; pour over beans. Add 1/2 can onions (or use some bread crumbs or cubes); pour into 1 1/2 qt. casserole dish. Bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes. Garnish with 1/2 can french fried onions (or cover to taste with bread crumbs and spray crumbs lightly with butter flavored cooking spray); bake an additional 5 minutes.

Variation: To take the place of the fried onions inside the casserole, you may want to chop up some actual onions to give the onion flavor to the dish.
