    Spicy Chickpeas

    Original recipe by Mirj at Recipezaar but I changed it just a bit.

    List of Ingredients

    2 teaspoons canola oil
    1 teaspoon whole cumin seeds
    1/4 teaspoon salt
    1/2 teaspoon chili powder
    1/2 teaspoon lemon pepper
    pinch of crushed hot pepper flakes (to taste)
    1 can (15 ounce) chopped tomatoes
    1 can (15 ounce) garbanzo beans (chick peas), drained
    1 teaspoon lemon juice
    1/2 cup onion, chopped

    Recipe

    In medium saucepan over low heat, warm oil and cumin seeds. Heat until cumin turns a darker shade of brown.
    Add salt, chili powder, lemon-pepper and hot pepper. Mix well.
    Stir in tomatoes. Once the juice begins to thicken add in chickpeas and mix well.
    Add lemon juice and onions and stir until onions become soft.
    Remove from heat and place in serving bowl; serve immediately.
