    This recipe is one that our family for many years. We get together in November each year and bake about 2000 cookies. This is one of the favorites

    List of Ingredients




    ½ c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    2 eggs
    1 tsp. Vanilla
    1 ¾ c. flour
    1 tsp. Soda
    ½ c. cocoa
    ½ tsp. Salt
    pecan halves
    marshmallows

    Recipe



    Mix well shortening, sugar, eggs, and flavoring. Sift dry ingredients and add, mixing thoroughly. Place pecan halves on greased cookie sheet and place a roll of dough on each nut. Bake 8 min. at 350. Cut marshmallows in thirds and place a slice on each cookie and return to oven about 3 min.
    When cool, frost cookies with:

    Chocolate Frosting

    1 c. chocolate chips
    ¼ c. butter
    ½ c. milk
    1 lb. Powdered sugar
    mint flavoring (optional)
    Melt chocolate, butter and milk in double boiler. Blend well. Remove from heat and add enough powdered sugar to make spreading consistency. Frost cookies or simply dip them in frosting.
