03/02/2011 National Banana Crème Pie Day Double Banana Cream Pie

    Source of Recipe

    McCormick

    Recipe Introduction

Banana cream pie is a rich dessert made with a custard filling consisting of eggs, milk, cream, and flour. Most cream pies have a graham cracker crust, but the crust can also be made with pastry dough. Other variations to a typical banana cream pie involve pecans, chocolate shavings, or drizzles of caramel on top of the whipped cream filling. Some people even add large chunks of unsliced bananas into their cream pies for extra banana flavoring. In a 1951 survey conducted by the United States armed services, banana cream pie was ranked the soldier's favorite dessert. Cream pies are often associated with clowns who use them as part of their routines as a gimmick or prop. But did you know that the pies used in show business are actually made from shaving cream rather than the cream of a cream pie? To celebrate National Banana Cream Pie Day, make a delicious cream pie for you and your family to enjoy! Punch Bowl
