Camp Hash
1 1/2 lb. sausage
6 c. water
2 pkg. onion soup mix
4 c. shredded, dried hash brown potatoes
Assorted seasonings to taste (hot pepper, chili powder, basil,
Italian seasonings)
Recipe
Brown meat in bottom of pan, breaking it up as it cooks to ensure it is cooked through. Add water and soup mix, stirring to mix. Heat to boiling and simmer a few minutes. Add dry potatoes and desired seasonings; stir. Cover pot and move to the edge of the fire for about 10 minutes, allowing potatoes to absorb the water. Move pot back to heat and stir, cooking about 5 to 10 minutes more. Serve hot. Makes 6 servings.
